The Beauty of Cotton

We headed out before the sun came up for some sunrise beauty.  I love our morning drives to the country to watch the sunrise together.  These cotton field views we found were so beautiful.  I'm sure the farmers that saw us on the side of the road were suspicious and thought we were mental when they saw the camera in my frozen hands.

Beautiful field of cotton in the middle of nowhere around Slaton and Acuff, Texas.

All the equipment was lined up perfectly for a cotton field sunrise photo.

Lots of fields left to harvest, but there are also a lot of
modules in empty fields across the horizon
that need to be picked up.

Rows of cotton going as far as the eye can see.

Sun glow on a field of cotton and look at that sky.

The cotton bolls are so pretty with the glow of the sun behind them.

The sun was glowing off the tall cotton filled field.

Horseshoe Bend--Slaton, TX

We went out to Horseshoe Bend this morning to watch the beautiful hand of God at work.  I love this area.  The sky was colorful and the breeze was cool.  It's a beautiful day that the Lord has made!

After spending the morning in Horseshoe Bend we made our way into the small town of Slaton, TX.  There is a Steakhouse on 9th Street where we stopped for breakfast.  I love the Mom and Pop places.  The locals were already there eating their usual and drinking coffee before starting their day.
I'm sure we were the talk of town!

A song comes to mind when I see these beautiful scenes of our day and it goes something like this...
I'm from the COUNTRY and I like it that way!!

Beautiful view with no building in the way of God's land.

Barbed wire and an old fence post equal beauty in my book.

The Sunflowers were already turned toward the rising sun.

Look at the wild grasses shining in the light of the sun.

The locals enjoying each others company at the Slaton Steakhouse.  I miss this.
 Everybody knows everybody
Everybody calls you friend

One last view of the country life before making it back to Lubbock.  This is the most beautiful thing ever!
Agriculture, wind turbines, and electricity all sharing the same space.
It was so good to get out of town for a few hours and enjoy the quiet places called the country.
I'm from the COUNTRY and I like it that way!!

Sun Chaser

My love helped me clean up the house this morning.  He wanted to finish in time to take me out to see the sun come up.  That's what we did! And it was beautiful!

  • We headed out to Buffalo Springs Lake yesterday.  It was super hot and after waiting a few hours, we finally got our spot.  We were pooped out after setting up camp.  Sadly a loud day group moved in next to us.  We had to wait all day for them to leave.  All was great once we had our space again.  We soaked up some sun and even got in the lake to cool off before turning in for the night.  We tried out our new bedrolls last night and they worked out great.  This morning I got to test out my new fishing pole.  Michael got a kick out of my excitement after casting a few times and not having to call him over to fix it.  I love my underspin reel! :)

Mini Vacation Day 3

Last day in Santa Fe.  We got up early and took a drive up the mountain to see the sunrise.  The mountains are so beautiful.  It was cold going up so we had to drag the jackets out. We got to the top and took a hike at Ski Santa Fe.  It was check out time when we made it down the mountain.  We grabbed our things and headed to the Plaza for a little shopping before we left.

We explored the Santa Fe Railyard our first day. We ate at a place called Flying Star Cafe that has amazing strawberry milkshakes!! I went in my first REI store and got to watch the trains as we shopped the area.
